30pc rise in tourist seeking info on Fiji
TOURISTS seeking information about Fiji on global tourism monitor Trip Advisor have increased by 30 per cent in the past 12 months.
This was revealed by Jessica Quinlan, TripAdvisor sales manager destination Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific to about 100 tourism industry stakeholders participated in a workshop organised by Tourism Fiji yesterday.
She said the workshop was primarily to assist local tour operators better understand how they could benefit from being listed on TripAdvisor.
“Our role is to work with tourism boards in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific,” she said.
“We are also working with Tourism Fiji on a global partnership that covers a variety of different markets around the world including Australia, New Zealand, US Canada and the UK and also covering eastern markets like China, India and Singapore.”
Ms Quinlan said there were a lot of questions from local tour operators about TripAdvisor.
“I received a lot of questions from people who wanted to connect with our partner called Viatool.
“A lot of businesses are looking to distribute their products globally and quite a few of them are asking questions about that so they are asking technical questions like — how do I get my market bookable? Which markets are the products going to be featured in and what kind of products do we work with?
“It was quite interesting receiving that feedback. There were people with questions about their business listing, about making some potential changes and some people that I spoke to don’t have a listing so that’s a big part of what I’m doing today is getting those businesses listed.”
