Asset reliability – A growing concern for oil and gas operators in Qatar

by April 19, 2016 General

DOHA, QATAR, April 19, 2016 / — As oil prices approach the break-even point in Qatar, many oil and gas operators are cutting costs, manifested in the cancellation of major projects and staff reduction.

However, investment into the country continues to increase with major events such as the 2022 FIFA World Cup set to take place in the region. This has put pressure on operators to meet the growing demand with their limited ageing assets, with the major challenge being to ensure that these assets are reliable and safe for production. Operators cannot afford to have any accidents, especially with the costs as seen in the recent BP oil spill.

IQPC Middle East has collaborated with Petroleum Development Oman, GASCO, ENI Refining, Qatargas, Qatar Petroleum, Cairn India and many more to develop a programme for the Asset Integrity & Reliability Qatar conference, which will provide operators how to develop an effective risk assessment strategy, and keep assets safe, cost-effective and reliable for operation.

This four-day event, taking place from 15-18 May 2016 in Doha, Qatar, will also feature solution providers such as
Integrity & Compliance Management, Navi Doha and others who will showcase to attendees how they can help Qatari oil and gas operators keep their assets reliable and safe for production. Attendees will benefit further from lessons shared by operators gleaned from their ground-breaking trials and errors to increase asset reliability while reducing the operating and maintenance costs, amongst falling oil prices, rising costs and ageing infrastructure.

Keynote speakers include:
• Guillaume (William) Lesage, Chief Operations Officer, QATOFIN
• Ahmed Saleh, Technical Services Department Head, GASCO
• Andreas de Vries, Head Performance Analysis (PPA), Qatar Petroleum
• Andrew Bowes, Maintenance & Integrity Team Leader, Petroleum Development Oman
