Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received in Jakarta, Indonesia this afternoon Secretary-General of ASEAN H.E. Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, on the sidelines of the 43rd ASEAN Summit and Related Summits.
During the courtesy meeting, H.E. Dr. Kao Kim Hourn congratulated Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet on being appointed the Prime Minister of Cambodia and on receiving the title of “Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei”.
He informed the Cambodian Premier of the ASEAN Community Vision 2045 approved by the ASEAN Political Security Council, a long-term vision of up to 25 years, unprecedented in the history of ASEAN.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet praised the ASEAN Secretariat for its efforts and initiatives in promoting the ASEAN Community Building process. He also agreed with ASEAN to focus on the promotion of ASEAN economy, especially the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) Agreement.
The Cambodian Premier also laid stress on the security issue which requires ASEAN to coordinate efforts to reduce conflicts in order to maintain peace, stability and ensure prosperity, which is an important basis for economic development.
Therefore, ASEAN plays a key role in finding solutions to the Myanmar issue, he added, encouraging the ASEAN secretary-general to seek humanitarian assistance for the people of Myanmar.
Besides, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet voiced his support for the ASEAN Community Vision 2045 and urged ASEAN to accelerate the process so that the Republic of Timor-Leste can become a full member of ASEAN.
