Cathy Yang nominated in Asian TV Awards
MANILA – ANC’s Cathy Yang has been nominated in the Asian TV Awards for Best News Presenter or Anchor.
Yang was shortlisted from among hundreds of entries around the Asia-Pacific and will head to Singapore next month to attend the awarding.
The “Market Edge with Cathy Yang” and “Business Nightly” anchor was the only Filipino in the shortlist.
Other nominees for the award were Bloomberg’s Yvonne Man (Hong Kong), CNN International’s Kristie Lu Stout (Hong Kong), CNBC’s Sri Jegarajah (Singapore), BBC’s Sharanjit Leyl (Singapore) and CNN-News 18’s Zakka Jacob (India).
Yang has won the award, in this same category of best presenter, three times: in 2001, 2002 and 2003, all when she was with Bloomberg TV Asia-Pacific.
An award-winning broadcast journalist who has worked overseas for nearly two decades, Yang came back to ABS-CBN, the company where she started her career as a broadcast journalist, in August 2015.
Yang anchored ANC’s “Stock Market Live” and ABS-CBN’s “Usapang Business” in the late ’90s.
She left the Philippines to anchor for Bloomberg TV Asia-Pacific based in Tokyo, and then in Hong Kong. She later worked for CCTV (China Central TV) in Hong Kong, where she was based in the past several years.
