Celebrating Our Work and Partnerships – whilst raising over Sg$130,000 for Mission to Seafarers Singapore
On Thursday, 3rd November 2016 HRH Princess Anne visited Singapore’s Jurong Port as President of The Mission to Seafarers Singapore (MTSS) and Patron of Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA).
The morning began with a horse display and presentation of Rosettes by the Princess to beneficiaries of RDA.
The event then focussed on the welfare work for seafarers passing through Singapore as HRH then moved to the MTSS Drop-in-Centre where she met with volunteers, staff and seafarers.
The grand finale of the day was a spectacular and rare charity reception aboard the luxury tall ship, the Royal Albatross, where over 140 guests had the unique opportunity to speak directly with HRH and other senior officials, partake in the charity auction and enjoy a one-off performance of songs by the superb Paul Roberts (of Stranglers fame) from his forthcoming show, ‘Let’s Dance – Paul Roberts sings David Bowie’. Paul flew in early to Singapore especially for this event.
The day also saw the launch of the new MTSS website www.mtss.org along with a very exciting ‘Singapore Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race for the Masses – Mission RASI 2017’
Thanks to the generosity of the corporate sponsors and partners, over Sg$100,000 was raised for the MTSS , with a further Sg$15,000 being raised in charity auction sponsorship on the day – split 50/50 between RDA and MTSS
‘It is with pride that we can also link this visit to us marking this year as the 90th anniversary of our work in Singapore. We thank you (HRH) for your words of support and guidance and assure you that we take great inspiration from them and look forward to many more years under your stewardship as the President of our charity’
