CHINA, SINGAPORE AGREE TO IMPROVE CO-OPERATION BETWEEN THEIR LEGISLATURES
BEIJING– China and Singapore have agreed to improve co-operation between their legislatures.
The agreement came out of a meeting here Tuesday between Meng Jianzhu, the head of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, and Singapore’s Chief Justice, Sundaresh Menon.
“Legislature co-operation is an important guarantee for stable development of China-Singapore ties in the long run,” said Meng, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee.
He called on the two sides to establish mechanisms on recognition and enforcement of judgments in civil and commercial matters, legislature co-operation under the Belt and Road Initiative, and China-Asean legislative exchanges.
Menon said Singapore stood ready to carry out close legislature co-operation with China based on friendship and mutual trust.
