Commerce minister: 11th parliamentary polls in December

Awami League Advisory Council member and Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed has said the 11th parliamentary election will be held in December and urged leaders and activists of the ruling Awami League to work together to win the polls.

He was addressing a commemorative meeting of recently deceased Tazumuddin Upazila Parishad chairman and Upazila Awami League general secretary Ahid Ullah Zasim Hawlader in a field in Tazumuddin upazila of Bhola on Friday.

Lawmaker Nurunnabi Chowdhury Shawn from Bhola 3 constituency presided over the meeting.

Tofail recalled contributions of Ahid Ullah to the upazila’s development and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.

The minister also said the district has huge reserves of gas, and industries would be set up using this gas that would also create employment opportunities for locals.

Awami League Organizing Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim, Deputy Minister for Environment and Forest Abdullah Al Jabcob, lawmaker Ali Azam Mukul and Zila Parishad Chairman Abdul Mamin Tulu  also spoke at the program.

Ahid Ullah died on December 31 at a Singapore hospital.
