Dance with stars

by April 14, 2017 General

BELIEVE it or not, new kid on the 7s rugby block, Kalione Nasoko, who once dreamed of playing in Hong Kong is dancing with the stars.

This is after he was named as the player of the final at the mecca of 7s last week.

Nasoko said he was humbled to be playing alongside world rugby 7s superstars who had stamped their marks in the code.

Beaming with confidence, the soft spoken Yasawa man is eager to continue from where he left off last week to help the team deliver the goods in Singapore this weekend.

Nasoko, who made his international debut in last year’s Dubai and South Africa 7s, looks forward to a new challenge.

“Firstly, I am humbled to also engrave my name at Hong Kong. I am also excited to have fulfilled my childhood dream of playing there and to win the top award is something I didn’t expect.

“I am blessed to have played with such a bunch of talented players who helped me win the award. What is done is done, the focus now is to lift my form this weekend.”

Nasoko said other teams would be out to beat Fiji

“I am fortunate to be playing alongside some of the best 7s players. They have helped me build my rugby career.”

He said his first challenge was to win his spot in the final 12-member team.

“I know it will be a tough challenge as all the boys have been working hard at training.”

Fiji plays Hong Kong at 4.52pm followed by Russia at 7.50pm tomorrow and Canada at 12.06am on Sunday.
