Hot on the heels of games leaked before major announcements, “Destiny” joins the gang as big news of its expansion, “Destiny Rise of Iron” has been leaked ahead of schedule. Funnily enough, the leak did not originate from a forums source or a retailer, but on the game’s own website.

Almost on the eve of the expected “Destiny” Reveal Stream, happening on June 9 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time, new details pertaining to the “Destiny” new expansion have been spotted. According to Game Informer, the official “Destiny” website has confirmed that the next expansion will be “Destiny Rise of Iron.”

While there had already been previous leaks pointing to this, the leak has also confirmed a release date for the expansion, which is on Sept. 20. Whether or not this was supposed to be part of the big surprise that Bungie had been saving for the live stream will never be confirmed now.

As seen in the captured image in the link above, the blurb referring to the expansion only names the PS4 and Xbox One platforms for “Destiny Rise of Iron.” This basically confirms that “Destiny” will now be moving towards full dedication to current-gen platforms.

The blurb also refers to the trailer of the “Rise of Iron,” so this may be one of the surprises that the developer has in store for the “Destiny” Reveal Stream. In addition, the source also pointed to some information listed over the Xbox website for Singapore. Players will still need the base game and The Taken King expansion to proceed with Rise of Iron.

The expansion will also expand the territories for exploration on Earth. Plus, there will be The Plaguelands area where Lord Saladin will be present. Other features reportedly included in “Destiny Rise of Iron” are new weaons, armour and gear, new raid, story, campaign and quests, and a Maximum Light Increase.

There will also be a new Strike and Crucible mode and maps. The Plaguelands zone was also mentioned, alongside what is dubbed as a Social Space. Finally, there will also be a new enemy faction and bosses.

While most of the basic expectations have already been leaked, perhaps the biggest issue would be the sudden focus on current-gen consoles for the expansion. Assuming that this is an expansion instead of the expected sequel, given the need for the base game and the latest expansion, it seems that last-gen console players will need some explanation from Activision and Bungie.

Bungie has also announced a maintenance scheduled on June 9. The maintenance break will start from 8:00 a.m. Pacific Time while the servers will be offline from 9:00 a.m. Maintenance is expected to be done at around 1:00 p.m. Since this will also be the time for the Reveal Stream, it’s a good break from the game, and hopefully the developer will provide some answers.
