The Honourable Stéphane Dion, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today announced the following diplomatic appointments.
These seasoned public servants reflect the Government of Canada’s commitment to making appointments that ensure its diplomatic leaders represent a wide diversity of Canadians and reflect its commitment to greater gender representation in appointments.
Behzad Babakhani becomes Consul General in Monterrey (United Mexican States). Mr. Babakhani replaces Jean-Pierre Hamel.
Natasha Cayer becomes Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, in Vienna. Ms. Cayer replaces Isabelle Poupart.
Evelyne Coulombe becomes Consul General in Rio de Janeiro (Federative Republic of Brazil). Ms. Coulombe replaces Sanjeev Chowdhury.
Joanne Frappier becomes Ambassador to the Eastern Republic of Uruguay. Ms. Frappier replaces Claire Poulin.
Kevin Hamilton becomes Ambassador to Romania. Mr. Hamilton replaces Joanne Lemay.
Stéphane Lessard becomes Consul General in Denver (United States of America). Mr. Lessard replaces Marcy Grossman.
Anne-Tamara Lorre becomes Ambassador to the Republic of Iceland. Ms. Lorre replaces Stewart Wheeler.
Nancy Lynn McDonald becomes High Commissioner in the Republic of Singapore. Ms. McDonald replaces Heather Grant.
Khawar Nasim becomes Consul General in Minneapolis (United States of America). Mr. Nasim replaces Jamshed Merchant.
Kenneth Neufeld becomes Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. Mr. Neufeld replaces Deborah Lyons.
