Food, technology and medicine companies in Deloitte Fast 50 mix

The upper South Island Rising Star winner in the Deloitte Fast 50 regional category winners was Nelson-based fruit drinks company Chia.

She and other regional finalists will celebrate with cocktail functions and will be in line to be ultimate winners in the Deloitte Festival of Fast Growth, to be held in Auckland on November 9, 2017.

Chia founder Chloe Van Dyke is now exporting to 24 supermarkets in Hong Kong, adding to outlets in Singapore and Malaysia which sell her products.

Deloitte partner Shari Carter says this year’s regional winners showed the diverse range of businesses across Canterbury and the upper South Island that are achieving outstanding growth.

Carter said all the companies showed strong commitment, strategy and capability but also had their own point of difference allowing them to corner their part of the market.

Christchurch-based Solar Bright won the aptly named Rising Star One to Watch award for its solar powered lights, including road stud lights, and its LED tubing lights.

Also in lights was Switch Lighting, New Zealand’s first LED manufacturer which won the Fastest Growing Manufacturing Business.

Technology companies among the regional winners included Christchurch’s Trineo software company (Fastest Growing Exporter), and cash loan firm Moola (Fastest Growing Technology Company).

Christchurch’s property management and maintenance firm Carus took the Fastest Growing Business Services Business award with projects around the country for commercial and educational property owners.

The biggest company to take the Master of Growth award was Christchurch-based medical supplies group Ebos, although its businesses in Australia now far outstrip the size of its Kiwi activities with total turnover of $7.6 billion annually.

Liquor purveyor Brandhouse was Fastest Growing Retail or Consumer Products Business for its selection of vodka, cognac and other favourites.

Stronghold at Ohoka north of Christchurch was the Fastest Growing Agribusiness winner with import and export production for direct sales of farmgates and hardware, pool and security fencing.
