Iloilo City to host convention of Asian tour operators
ILOILO City’s local tourism office is spearheading a convention of tour operators and big travel agencies in 10 cities in Asia by September this year.
The City has requested airlines for additional international chartered flights to the Iloilo international airport in Cabatuan earmarked for more tourists coming in from Asian cities.
Junel Divinagracia, Iloilo City tourism officer, said the Department of Tourism regional office is enthusiastic with the proposed meeting of Asian tour operators in the city and assured full assistance to the convention.
Divinagracia said the major project proponent is the City Tourism Office and an initial 15 tour operators and representatives of travel agencies from 10 major cities in China, South Korea, Singapore and Malaysia already signified their intention to come to Iloilo and participate in the convention.
The Iloilo meeting will significantly discuss the creation and opening of a new tourism circuit in Iloilo City, island province of Guimaras and areas in southern and northern Iloilo, and open these areas to the rest of the world.
The participants will also see the best tourism practices in Iloilo City and the rest of the province. (LCP/Sunnex)
