by August 24, 2017 General

Students will have to improve their employability skills according to the requirements of the industry and just obtaining engineering degree without competency will not help. This was the message given to over 3,000 youngsters who participated in the 9th edition of the Youth Leadership Summit held here at CODISSIA on Wednesday.

Krish Ganesan, Vice President, Human Resources and Global Head – Recruitment, Tata Consultancy Services, said at the inaugural of the event that “uberisation of workforce for specific tasks on temporary basis in IT and other sectors was picking up on a fast pace. If you want to enjoy the development, you have to improve the skill-set that the industry wants.”

Former Vice-Chancellor of Anna University and Chairman of EGB Foundation E. Balagurusamy highlighted the need for empowering youth in education.

Empowering the youth will help socio-economic development of the country. Improving employability skills and creativity among the engineering graduates are the qualifications for gainful employment, he said.

According to B. Sivakumar, Chief Executive Officer of ICT Academy, the aim of conducting the summit was to bring out leadership quality, and improve the ability of students to articulate ideas through presentations before the audience. As many as 7,112 students had applied online for the contest from across the cities in the State.

The videos of the students submitted online were screened and after several rounds, six were selected for the final talk that took place here.
