Indonesia encourages NAM countries to accelerate employment recovery

Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Indonesian government is encouraging countries that are members of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) to accelerate global employment recovery.”Indonesia is proposing and encouraging three important steps to accelerate the recovery of global employment conditions,” Deputy Minister of Manpower Afriansyah Noor noted in a written statement received on Wednesday. t the NAM ministers’ meeting held on the sidelines of the 111th Session of the International Labour Conference in Geneva, Switzerland, on Wednesday, Noor presented the three proposed steps. The first step is recovering and strengthening multilateral cooperation that upholds the principles of unity, dialogue, and respect for international law. “Only with these principles can we unify the international community,” he affirmed. The second step is increasing tripartite cooperation in the efforts to drive recovery of employment conditions and the development of a more sustainable economy. “This is carried out, among others, by accelerating reskilling and upskilling as well as creating a space for lifelong learning and encouraging quality apprenticeships,” he expounded. The third step that he highlighted at the event was ensuring social protection that is comprehensive and better protects vulnerable members of the workforce, such as women workers, young workers, migrant workers, and workers with disabilities. t Wednesday’s meeting, he emphasized the importance of strengthening the South-South Cooperation, so that multilateral cooperation, been built so far, can show its success. He stated that the NAM Center of South-South Cooperation in Jakarta is ready to strengthen the cooperation through several programs, such as poverty alleviation, capacity boosting, and the strengthening of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). “We want to reaffirm Indonesia’s commitment to our movement. We are ready to collaborate with other members in improving the welfare of our workers,” the deputy minister remarked.
