KM Bagan Datuk Makes Maiden Voyage

PORT KLANG, July 31 (Bernama) — The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) vessel, KM Bagan Datuk today made its maiden voyage to Batuan Tengah in the Straits of Singapore.

MMEA Director-General Admiral Datuk Zulkifli Abu Bakar said it was in conjunction with the launch of Abu Bakar Maritime Base in Johor tomorrow by the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar.

KM Bagan Datuk is the first new generation patrol craft (NGPC) of the MMEA.

Zulkifli said KM Bagan Datuk would be deployed in Klang Maritime Area for search and rescue operation in the Straits of Melaka and monitoring of the Malaysian maritime zone.

The construction of KM Bagan Datuk began in December 2015 after Destini Marine Sdn Bhd (DMS) was awarded a contract to build six patrol craft at a cost of RM381.3 million…..
