Leuenberger’s father Ed bared this in a Facebook chat with SunStar Davao Wednesday, April 19.

Ed, said his son, who recently clinched the 80th Araw ng Dabaw Triathlon Competition title and Batang Pinoy 2016 silver medalist, aims for an impressive performance in the said event where he placed third in the previous edition.

“Mo (Eduard Moritz) is working on his weakness sa bike and swim. His run is good and posted the best time in 3km time trial at Remy Field, Subic yesterday besting Batang Pinoy 2016 duathlon gold medalist Josh Ramos,” Ed said, adding that Eduard Moritz was joined by teammate Pia Suarez from the Ateneo de Davao University (Addu) to grace the camp which will serve as a tune up for the upcoming Subit that also expects triathletes from Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Philippines.

While on their way to the camp, Eduard Moritz developed his swimming skills with the Addu swimming team and trained cycling with the General Santos triathletes under coach Jerome Wee.

The 20 day-long training camp, which is spearheaded by national team coach and camp director Kevin Eijansantos, however, is organized by the Triathlon Association of the Philippines and funded by the Philippine Sports Commission.

“It’s an invitational camp for YOG Candidates and members of the Philippine Team Development Team for Triathlon,” Ed said, adding that the camp focuses on skills development on the three disciplines including swimming, cycling and running as well as race strategies.

The camp participants will be joined by junior and elite members of Philippine Triathlon Team who will reinforce the participants to work as a group and prepare for the actual race on April 29.

After Subit, participants will stay another week for a race evaluation and recovery workouts to getting ready again for the next YOG points race on May 14 in Dipolog City.
