Next meeting of Supreme Eurasian Economic Council to be held in April

The next meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council will be in April 2017, the Eurasian Economic Commission informed.

Yesterday, on December 26, in St. Petersburg (Russia), the presidents of Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia discussed the most topical issues related to the further development of the Eurasian integration, as well as promising directions of development of the union.

The heads of states signed the documents relating to the digital agenda, trade policy of the union and approved the proposal of the need to start negotiations with Iran, Egypt, India and Singapore.

They considered the development of a concept of forming a common EEU financial market, liberalization plans for a number of services sectors, the formation of program of common EEU energy market, the main directions and stages of implementation of the transport policy of the Union states.

In 2017, the presidency over the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council and the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission will go to Kyrgyzstan. According to EEU Treaty, there is a planned annual rotation held alphabetically on the presiding post in these organs. In 2016, all three structures were chaired by Kazakhstan and its representatives.
