Pasir Ris West “Appreciating our Pioneers” Dinner at Pasir Ris Elias CC – Opening Remarks by Deputy Prime Minister, Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs and MP for Pasir-Ris-Punggol GRC, Mr Teo Chee Hean
Residents of Pasir Ris West
Good evening. I am happy to see so many of you, our Pioneers, at tonight’s dinner. This dinner is for us to show our appreciation to our Pioneers living in Pasir Ris West. During tonight’s dinner, we will be telling you more about the Pioneer Generation Package.
One important component of the Package is MediShield Life. MediShield Life will offer higher payouts compared to current MediShield, so that patients pay less.
I would like to highlight 2 key features of MediShield Life that are especially important to our Pioneers.
First, our Pioneers will receive specially subsidised MediShield Life premiums, which will be lower than your current MedShield premiums.
Second, Pioneers will also receive annual MediSave top-ups from next month to help pay for your premiums.
Pioneers in their 80s will have their premiums fully taken care of. For example, a Pioneer in his early 80s currently pays $1,123 a year for his MediShield premiums. With MediShield Life, his premium is less than $600 a year. He will receive a Medisave top-up of $800 every year, for life, which can more than pay for his MediShield Life premium.
With the MediSave top-ups, Younger Pioneers will pay about half of the MediShield premiums that you are paying today.
This will give our pioneers better peace of mind about their healthcare bills, and will also help their caregivers and family members.
During tonight’s dinner, you will also find out more about the Pioneer Generation Package – including the Pioneer Generation card, and the enhanced subsidies for specialist outpatient clinics, etc. We will also be answering any questions that you may have.
So, please relax and enjoy the dinner, and we hope that you will know more about the Pioneer Generation Package by the end of the evening.
