Reaching out to more on available help
We thank Ms Zhang Li Li for her feedback. We agree that it is important that residents know who to approach and contact when they need help.
To reach out to individuals and families in need, Family Service Centres (FSCs) outreach actively to their local communities. Staff may conduct door to door visits, community walkabouts and engagement of residents at community spaces. The FSCs also partner other agencies such as childcare centres, grassroots organisations, schools and religious institutions to publicise their services and facilitate assistance to those who require some form of social support.
Needy residents or persons may call ComCare Call at 1800 222-0000 to find out details of the nearest Community Development Council (CDC), FSC or other agencies they can approach. ComCare Call operators can handle calls in the four main languages and the common Chinese dialects. For those requiring urgent temporary assistance, they can also approach their Grassroots leaders or Citizens Consultative Committee (CCC) located at the community centres.
MCYS also aims to raise awareness through alternative help avenues such as the ComCare internet portal – ComCare.sg. MCYS recogni是es that some members of the public, such as senior citizens, may prefer to obtain information through traditional channels instead. To this end, ComCare.sg is complemented by other publicity materials, such as brochures in four languages, which are available in locations such as the CDCs, FSCs and community centres.
