As of this afternoon, the rescue team is still researching for a military training helicopter that lost contact with the Air Force Command in the Cardamom Mountains, in Pursat and Koh Kong provinces, on July 12, 2024, said the Ministry of National Defence.
The incident occurred during a training exercise and the flight is part of the Air Force’s regular training in the area, the source continued, stressing that there are two people aboard the Z9, No MH-912 helicopter: a captain and a pilot.
The Ministry of National Defence spoke highly of the efforts of all competent forces and authorities in this search and rescue operation, and thanked the private sector for their willingness to join the search and rescue team.
Due to weather conditions at the operation site, which is a very foggy forest area, and as the rescue team had already set the direction to deploy forces in that area, the private sector should allow the search and rescue team to continue their operation first, the ministry said.
