Senior Minister of State Indranee Rajah to Lead Second Study Trip for Applied Study in Polytechnics and ITE Review (ASPIRE) and Attend International Summit on the Teaching Profession


Ms Indranee Rajah, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Law and Ministry of Education, will lead a delegation to study the technical and vocational education systems in New Zealand and Australia from 30 March to 4 April 2014. This is part of the work of the Applied Study in Polytechnics and ITE Review (ASPIRE) Committee, which aims to enhance the polytechnic and ITE students’ career and academic prospects, and to strengthen applied study in polytechnics and ITE in partnership with industry. This is the Committee’s second study trip, after its visit to Germany and Switzerland in February 2014.

Ms Indranee, who is Chairman of the ASPIRE Committee, will be accompanied by ASPIRE Committee members from the private and public sectors, and officials from the Ministry of Education (MOE). The delegation will meet with education experts and researchers. She will also visit companies active in offering technical and vocational education and training in various industry sectors.

Ms Indranee will also attend the 4th International Summit on the Teaching Profession on “Excellence, Equity and Inclusiveness – High Quality Teaching for All” in Wellington, New Zealand from 28-29 March 2014.

For the international summit, Ms Indranee will be accompanied by officials and educators from MOE, and the President of the Singapore Teachers’ Union.
