SINGAPORE, Singapore Airlines (SIA) and Tourism Western Australia will jointly promote tourism to Western Australia in 10 key international markets, including Malaysia, under an AU$5 million (RM14.5 million) global cooperative marketing agreement.

The three-year agreement was signed here Monday by SIA’s senior vice-president for sales and marketing Campbell Wilson and Tourism Minister of Western Australia Paul Papalia.

The other international markets are the UK, Germany/Switzerland, India, China, the US, Hong Kong, Japan, Indonesia and Singapore.

Growing tourism is an important part of the state government’s plan to boost the economy, create jobs and develop business opportunities, Papalia said in a statement.

Increasing the number of people travelling here from overseas will help us achieve just that, which is why we committed an extra AU$12 million to Tourism Western Australia’s international marketing activity.

It is the biggest international marketing push in the state’s history and we hope to see thousands of more people come to Western Australia as a result of this surge in activity.

The campaigns will include promotional airfares and travel packages to Western Australia and will be promoted through a range of digital, print and TV advertising.

SIA, which has worked in partnership with Tourism Western Australia for 20 years, will promote affordable fares to Western Australia in those key international markets.

The state government expects the combined campaign activity in Singapore will generate more than 11,000 visitors.
