SINGAPORE: PULAU BUSING’S OIL STORAGE TANK ON FIRE

SINGAPORE, A fire broke out involving an oil storage tank at Pulau Busing, one of the island located off the southwestern coast of Singapore in the late afternoon yesterday.

In its update on Facebook, Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said resources have been forward deployed to Pasir Panjang Ferry Terminal, prior to boarding a craft to Pulau Busing.

Members of the Company Emergency Response Team (CERT) are conducting firefighting operations. The fire involves an oil storage tank, it said.

SCDF has been alerted to the fire around 6.30pm.

Bernama learnt that Pulau Busing is owned by the JTC Corporation and is leased to Tankstore Ltd, a petroleum storage company.

Photos and videos posted on Facebook yesterday show thick smoke was billowing from the storage tank.
