SINGAPOREAN ON UMRAH KILLED IN BUS ACCIDENT IN MAKKAH
SINGAPORE, A Singaporean was killed and a number of passengers were injured in a bus accident while traveling in Makkah yesterday, according to Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS).
In its latest update on Facebook, MUIS said between 1pm to 1.30pm (8.30am to 9am Saudi Arabia time), the bus carrying 31 passengers performing the minor pilgrimage (umrah) met with the accident.
MUIS said it is understood that the passengers are pilgrims managed by local travel agency, Abu Bakar Travel Services Private Limited.
Most of the passengers are Singaporeans, said MUIS, adding that the injured have been sent to hospitals in Makkah to receive medical attention.
MUIS said it is working with the Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs to render assistance to those affected.
