Svetlana Kuznetsova cut off her own hair during her victory over Agnieszka Radwanska at the WTA Finals in Singapore.
With the two players tied on one set apiece, the world No.9 asked the umpire for a large pair of scissors early in the third.
Spectators looked on in shock as the Russian proceeded to chop off the end of her ponytail.
Kuznetsova , who appeared on the verge of exhaustion during the final set, returned to her seat at the next change of ends and burst into tears.
She managed to regain composure and remarkably won the final set 7-5 after a gruelling match.

“It was bothering me a lot. I was trying to put it behind my headband, but my hair is very thick and heavy,” she said.
“When I was hitting the forehands every time I would hit a good shot… it would hit my eye every time and I had to struggle.
“I thought, ‘OK, what’s more important now? My hair, which I can let grow, or the match? I thought, ‘OK, I’ve got to go for it right now’, and that’s it.”

Radwanska went into the round-robin match as defending champion but Kuznetsova progressed after a staggering three hours.
She only qualified for the end-of-season competition 48 hours earlier.
The world No.5 will now face Karolina Pliskova on Wednesday.
