Symposium on cardiac morphology and prenatal imaging held
A two-day symposium on cardiac morphology and prenatal imaging, organised by Mediscan, was inaugurated on Saturday.
Indrani Suresh, organising secretary, said that they hoped to impart knowledge about cardiac anatomy and imaging to enhance the expertise and skills in foetal heart imaging.
“With more discussions and knowledge sharing, we want doctors to have a better understanding so that there is better diagnosis and care possible. There is a need to develop foetal cardiac pathology services across healthcare institutions as well,” she said.
The symposium had nearly 300 delegates from across the county as well as from Malaysia, Singapore and Bangladesh. While a majority of them were imaging specialists, specialists in cardiology, pathology and paediatrics also participated in the first day of the symposium.
Robert H. Anderson, a senior faculty at the symposium who is an expert on Cardiac morphology, said that the studies and research carried out by Mediscan could be examined by practitioners to enhance their skill sets.
