U.S. Defence Secretary H.E. Gen. Lloyd Austin has reaffirmed the commitment of the United States of America to tighten the relations with the Kingdom of Cambodia.
H.E. Gen. Lloyd Austin made the reaffirmation in a recent thank-you letter to Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate of Cambodia.
‘Thank you for welcoming me to Cambodia for the second time. It was a pleasure to see you again. As I mentioned in our meeting, the United States remains interested in working with you to strengthen the relationship between our two countries. I hope the United States can help Cambodia strengthen its security in a manner that benefits the Cambodian people,’ he wrote in his letter AKP received this morning.
‘I appreciated your candor regarding my proposals. I hope to continue discussions about how best to advance our bilateral cooperation, and I look forward to this next chapter of our defence relationship,’ he concluded.
U.S. Secretary of Defence H.E. Lloyd J. Austin paid an official visit
to Cambodia on June 4, 2024, during which he was received by Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen and Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, and met with H.E. Gen. Tea Seiha, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence.
The discussions centred around the deepening of bilateral defence cooperation to maintain peace, stability and sustainable development of both countries as well as the entire region
