TRADE MINISTER LAYS OUT ANGOLA’S TRADE OPPORTUNITIES IN SINGAPORE
LUANDA, Angola’s Trade Minister, Joffre Van-DA�nem JA�nior, laid out in Singapore the investment opportunities available in his country, aimed at transforming the Angolan economic potential into real wealth.
The minister had presented the new investment framework of Angola at the Africa-Singapore Business Forum, which was held on Aug 28 and 29.
While in Singapore, he also held a working meeting with his Singapore counterpart, Lim Hng Kiang, the Trade Ministry said in a media statement here Monday.
The two trade ministers stressed the need to boost bilateral commercial relations as well as to strengthen and promote the reciprocal protection of investments.
They also analysed the agreement on technical, cultural and scientific co-operation and the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Singapore Corporation Enterprise and the Angolan Agency of Investments and Promotion of Exports.
At a separate meeting with the Singapore Minister of Foreign Affairs and Defence, Maliki Osman, the Angolan Minister explained the country’s current foreign investments framework, as well as the Law on Commercial Competition.
Malik expressed his interest in sharing experiences with Angola in various areas, such as in e-commerce, infrastructure development, maritime and air transportation, as well as territorial development.
The Africa-Singapore Business Forum, organized by the governmental agency Entreprise Singapore, is the main platform for the exchange of businesses and the boosting of the trade between Africa and Singapore.
The Angolan delegation to the event included the Secretary of State for Industry, Ivan do Prado, as well as senior officials of the Trade Ministry, the Natural Resources and Oil Ministry, directors from the state-owned oil company Sonangol, representatives of entrepreneurial associations and entrepreneurs.
