Two courageous members of the public, Mr Wong Dong Hai and Mr Ng Jian Zuan were commended for their public-spiritedness as they had assisted the Police to detain two men aged 18 and 37 in connection with two separate cases of insulting the modesty of a woman.

In the first case, on 21 August 2018 at about 6.20pm, Mr Wong was travelling on the escalator at Bishan MRT Station when he noticed the 37-year-old man in front of him behaving suspiciously. The man had placed his mobile phone underneath a woman’s skirt. Mr Wong then approached the man who tried to flee. After a short chase, Mr Wong detained him at Bishan Bus Interchange.

In the second case, on 8 September 2018 at about 10.30pm, Mr Ng was travelling on the escalator at Braddell MRT station when he noticed that the 18-year-old man in front on him had placed his mobile phone underneath a woman’s skirt. He approached and detained the man.

In a ceremony held at the Public Transport Security Command (TransCom) this morning, Mr Wong was presented with a token of appreciation by Head Operations, TransCom, Superintendent of Police (SUPT) Alan Wong. Mr Ng was not available to attend the ceremony.
