UNIMO, a social media platform for moms

With an aim to unite moms and give them a platform for networking, Neha Kare who developed MUMO, a Mumbai Chapter of moms meeting up together, has recently launched UNIMO, a social media networking platform for mothers staying in different parts of the world.

Two months ago, Kare launched a social media group named UNIMO where more than 1.30 lakh women have already started networking with each other.

Speaking about UNIMO, Neha, said, “The idea came in mind when moms from abroad started approaching me to start a networking platform for them. The moms from different groups including a Mumbai group-MUMO, an Indore group-INMO, Delhi group-DELMO and many others are part of the parent group called UNIMO which indicates Universe of Moms. It is a fastest growing community with 1.30 lakh moms joining on Facebook and around 11,000 moms on WhatsApp groups.”

The tagline of the community is ‘Ek Break To Banta Hai’ aims to connect mothers through various kind of meet-ups. “We have different chapter groups in Mumbai, Pune, Indore, Delhi, Bengaluru , Kolkata, Singapore and UAE so far and conduct at least one meet-up every month,” said Kare.

Speaking about their progress in using social media as a platform to connect different women, Kare, added, “The only criteria for a women to join the group is that she should be a mom. Our Mumbai Chapter ‘MUMO-Mumbai Moms’ which was started in May 2014 has been used as a case study by Facebook and Sheryl Sandberg, COO of Facebook has quoted us as her favourite group on Facebook.”
