Visit by Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean to Kazakhstan, 13 to 15 October 2019
Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean concluded his working visit to Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan today.
In the morning, SM met Chairperson of the Senate Dr Dariga Nazarbayeva. They reaffirmed the strong inter-parliamentary relations and welcomed more parliamentary exchanges between both countries.
SM Teo was hosted to lunch by Minister of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry Askar Zhumagaliyev. They exchanged views on digitalisation and cyber-security, which is a key focus of Kazakhstan’s national digitalisation programme, and discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in this area.
SM Teo also met First Deputy Chairman of the National Security Committee Samat Abish. They had a good discussion on regional developments and reaffirmed the importance of religious harmony and combating radical ideology.
Concluding his visit to Kazakhstan, SM Teo said that he looked forward to Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev accepting President Halimah Yacob’s invitation to visit Singapore.
SM Teo will depart Kazakhstan tonight for Russia, where he will have bilateral meetings and attend the 23rd meeting of the TOTAL International Advisory Committee from 16-20 October 2019.
SM Teo is accompanied by Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Communications and Information and Ministry of Transport Dr Janil Puthucheary; Members of Parliament Mr Saktiandi Supaat and Ms Jessica Tan; and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Trade and Industry, and Enterprise Singapore.
