Visit by Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean to Moscow, Russia, 15 to 20 October 2019

Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean is in Moscow, Russia for a bilateral working visit from 15 to 20 October 2019.

On 16 October 2019, SM Teo met Special Presidential Representative for Environment Protection, Ecology and Transport Mr Sergei Ivanov. SM Teo and Mr Ivanov were counterparts in their previous capacities as Deputy Prime Ministers and Ministers for Defence. SM Teo and Mr Ivanov expressed satisfaction with the good progress in bilateral relations. They welcomed the recent signing of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU)-Singapore Free Trade Agreement. They also had a wide-ranging discussion in areas such as smart city development, urban transportation, sustainable development, climate change, and cooperation in the Arctic.

SM Teo met Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Regional Security and Information Policy Mr Alexander Gorbenko. SM Teo and Mr Gorbenko had an engaging discussion on the use of new urban solutions, digital technology and data analytics to improve urban transportation and city management.

SM Teo visited the Skolkovo Innovation Centre and Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology. SM Teo had discussions on the Centre’s programmes and development plans, and met several Russian start-ups involved in the fields of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and innovative prosthetics. SM also had dinner with business leaders who have business interests in Russia and Singapore. They discussed the latest trends in the innovation sector in Russia and the region, as well as opportunities for collaboration.

SM Teo is accompanied by Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Communications and Information, and Ministry of Transport Dr Janil Puthucheary; Members of Parliament Mr Saktiandi Supaat and Ms Jessica Tan; and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
