46 Candidates Submit Nomination Papers in Jamalpur for Upcoming National Election

Jamalpur: A total of 46 candidates submitted their nomination papers here in the district on the final day of submission for the upcoming 13th national parliamentary election slated for February 12, 2026. Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Yusuf Ali stated that the candidates submitted their nomination papers in compliance with the electoral code of conduct between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm today.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Jamalpur district comprises five parliamentary constituencies. In Jamalpur-1, which covers Dewanganj and Bakshiganj upazilas, four candidates submitted their nomination papers. In Jamalpur-2 (Islampur), nine candidates filed their nominations, while Jamalpur-3, comprising Melandah and Madarganj upazilas, saw 11 candidates submit their papers. Jamalpur-4 (Sarishabari) had 10 candidates submit nomination papers, and Jamalpur-5 (Jamalpur Sadar Upazila) had 12 candidates file their nominations.

According to the election schedule, scrutiny of nomination papers will be conducted from December 30 to January 4, 2026. Appeals against the decisions of the returning officers may be filed from January 5 to January 9, with the disposal of appeals scheduled from January 10 to January 18. The last date for the withdrawal of candidacy is January 20, while the final list of candidates and allocation of election symbols will be published on January 21. Election campaigning will begin on January 22 and continue until 7:30 am on February 10.
