Cambodia Assures Timely, Accurate Information on Thai Border Issue

Phnom Penh: Cambodia’s Ministry of Information today reaffirmed its assurance that it will provide timely and reliable updates on the ongoing border situation with Thailand to both national and international media. H.E. Tep Asnarith, Undersecretary of State and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Information, highlighted the commitment to transparency in sharing information about the evolving situation.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, official sources, including the Royal Government, Ministry of National Defence, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and Ministry of Information, have been the primary and authoritative channels for information since early June. H.E. Tep Asnarith emphasized that these institutions have ensured the press, both domestic and international, has access to accurate information.

Media monitoring by the Ministry of Information indicates that national and international outlets have consistently covered the issue, providing comprehensive and timely information to the national community across all 25 provinces and municipalities, as well as the international community. This includes a clear understanding of Cambodia’s official stance and the Royal Government’s efforts to resolve the situation through peaceful, friendly, and cooperative means.

“The Royal Government of Cambodia remains committed to resolving the issue based on peace, friendship, and development cooperation with Thailand. Our position has been clearly conveyed through official channels,” stated H.E. Tep Asnarith.

He added that Cambodia’s position has also been communicated globally through AKP and several private media outlets, which have produced and disseminated content in English, French, and Chinese. These efforts aim to inform the international community about the border developments in a timely and multilingual manner.

H.E. Tep Asnarith further explained that AKP, operating under the Ministry of Information, has distributed its news content – including reports related to the Cambodia-Thailand border issue – to the international community through the Royal Embassies of Cambodia in friendly countries and its media partners in those countries.

In conclusion, the Undersecretary of State reiterated that both the national and international communities are now well-informed about the Royal Government of Cambodia’s unified position, under the leadership of Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet. He reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to lawful measures and its support for resolving the matter at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to ensure a long-term, peaceful resolution and to safeguard bilateral harmony.
