Cambodian Information Minister Lauds Media Excellence at Asia Media Summit Gala


Siem reap: H.E. Neth Pheaktra, Cambodia’s Minister of Information, delivered a special address this evening at the Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony of the 20th Asia Media Summit (AMS). The Minister congratulated the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD) on two decades of significant contributions to the media landscape across the Asia-Pacific region.



According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Minister Pheaktra underscored the AMS’ importance as a premier platform for fostering dialogue, collaboration, and innovation, both regionally and globally. He lauded the Summit’s role in connecting media professionals throughout Asia and extended his congratulations to the AIBD on its milestone anniversary. The Minister also recognised the nominees and winners of the AIBD International Media Awards, commending their creativity, dedication, and impactful contributions to the media industry and their communities.



‘We have come together to celebrate excellence,’ he stated. ‘Your achievements are a testament to your commitment and innovation in a rapidly evolving media environment.’ Minister Pheaktra highlighted the critical discussions held earlier in the day, particularly those focusing on digital tools, verification mechanisms, and media literacy. He emphasised these as essential for boosting public awareness and building resilience against misinformation.



Expressing confidence, the Minister affirmed that the insights gained and connections forged at the Summit would be instrumental in shaping the future of media in the region. He anticipated that upcoming sessions would further enrich collective efforts in media development and cooperation. Minister Pheaktra concluded by thanking the AIBD for its dedication to providing a professional platform for media discourse. He extended a warm invitation to delegates to experience Cambodia’s rich culture, hospitality, and the beauty of Siem Reap.



On the occasion, the 2025 AIBD International Awards were presented. Korean Broadcasting System (KBS), Republic of Korea, won Best Television Programme for its feature ‘Volcano and Us – Mount Yasur.’ The National Radio of Cambodia received Best Radio Programme for ‘Phnom Da Temple: The Birthplace of the Khmer People.’ The Sustainability and Green Technology Award for waste management solutions went to MRTV for its programme ‘Transforming Waste for a Better Tomorrow.’ Additionally, the 2025 AIBD International Jury Award was presented to Voice of Vietnam (VOV) for its programme ‘The Fertile Land that Attracts Birds.’



At the same time, MRTV of Myanmar received the Sustainability and Green Technology Award: E-Waste Solutions, while VOV of Vietnam obtained the AIBD International Media Jury Award 2025.
