MOWRAM Reiterates Cooperation with AIIB in Water Resource Management

Phnom penh: The Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology (MOWRAM) has reaffirmed its commitment to further strengthen and expand cooperation with the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) in the field of water resource management.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the reaffirmation was made during a courtesy call by Mr. David Ginting, AIIB Investment Operations Specialist (Water), on H.E. Thor Chetha, Minister of MOWRAM, at the ministry this morning.

H.E. Minister commended AIIB for its active contributions in supporting the Royal Government of Cambodia’s investments in water resource management, aimed at ensuring water security, driving economic growth, and enhancing climate resilience. He particularly highlighted strategies to release and divert contaminated water from urban areas in several provinces to help minimise natural disasters such as flash floods and droughts in the face of climate change and global warming.

H.E. Thor Chetha also expressed gratitude to AIIB for its support in various water resource and meteorological development projects in Cambodia, including the Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM), the Climate Adaptive Irrigation and Sustainable Agriculture for Resilience (CAISAR) project, as well as flood and drought mitigation initiatives, all of which align with the Royal Government’s Pentagonal Strategy, Phase I.
