NBC Governor Shares Cambodia’s Digital Payment Success


Kyoto: H.E. Dr. Chea Serey, Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC), delivered a keynote speech and participated in a panel discussion at the 32nd Cross-Border Payments Infrastructure Forum (CSIF) in Kyoto, Japan on July 3.



According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, in her address, she highlighted Cambodia’s advancements in digital payment infrastructure, including the Bakong system and the Bakong Tourist Payment Programme, both of which have significantly improved domestic and cross-border transactions.



The Governor also discussed the Financial Transparency Corridor (FTC) project, a collaborative effort with international partners to boost cross-border trade, payments, and financial inclusion, ultimately supporting Cambodia’s economic growth.



In addition, she also highlighted the collaboration between the NBC and several international partners in developing the Financial Transparency Corridor (FTC) project to facilitate cross-border trade and financial activities, accelerate cross-border payment connectivity, and increase the efficiency of multilateral cross-border payments.



This project seeks to promote financial inclusion and innovation in financial services, which will contribute to national economic development, she said.
