Phnom Penh: Samdech Maha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly of Cambodia, extended a warm reception to Hon. Ek Nath Dhakal, Secretary-General of the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC), during a courtesy call at the National Assembly Palace.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Samdech Khuon Sudary acknowledged Hon. Ek Nath Dhakal as a long-standing ally of Cambodia, noting his role as a witness to Cambodia’s national elections and his contributions to connecting Cambodia with the global community. She expressed gratitude for the hospitality shown to the Cambodian parliamentary delegation at the recent UPF Summit 2025 and the ISC Conference in Seoul, which convened speakers, politicians, and dignitaries from across the globe.
Samdech Khuon Sudary congratulated Hon. Ek Nath Dhakal on his appointment as ISC Secretary-General, expressing optimism about ISC’s future under his leadership, especially in fostering parliamentary initiatives for peace, sustainability
, and inclusivity. She highlighted the appointment of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, known as the Father of Peace, as a Founding Member of ISC, emphasizing his potential to enhance ISC’s role in promoting peace and prosperity.
The discussions also focused on Samdech Techo Hun Sen’s respected leadership in the region, his achievements in liberating and rebuilding Cambodia post-conflict, and his influential ‘Ten Pillars of Peace Theory’ and the Universal Peace Charter. Samdech Khuon Sudary emphasized the critical nature of peace for development, stating that peace and development are intertwined.
Hon. Ek Nath Dhakal expressed gratitude for the warm reception and acknowledged the strong ties between Cambodia and ISC. He noted Samdech Khuon Sudary’s distinction as one of the top guests at recent ISC events, underscoring the robust relationship between the parties. Samdech Techo’s vision for strengthening ties between ISC and AIPA, with Cambodia set to serve as AIPA Secretary-General from September 2025, was discussed. Samdech Khuon Sudary encouraged active, result-oriented cooperation among AIPA Parliament Members, emphasizing the importance of measurable impact to benefit society. She also stressed that strong family values and harmony underpin a resilient nation, ensuring stability and growth.
