Phnom penh: The Association of Banks in Cambodia (ABC) and the Cambodia Microfinance Association (CMA), along with their member institutions, have announced a commitment to implement relief measures aimed at reducing the financial burden on those affected by the ongoing conflict at the Cambodia-Thailand border.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, a joint press release was issued by the two associations on July 30. The release emphasized their full support for the appeal made by Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, and aligned with the directive from the National Bank of Cambodia on “Measures to Alleviate the People Affected by the Cambodia-Thailand Border Conflict,” dated July 30, 2025.
The relief measures are intended to provide financial support to armed forces, families of deceased soldiers, and civilians displaced by the conflict. The associations stated that their actions are driven by a sense of solidarity and humanity, aiming to relieve the financial stress experienced by those most affected.
ABC and CMA, along with their members, are firm in their belief that their collective efforts demonstrate national unity and patriotism. They highlight the culture of compassion and sharing that is a hallmark of Cambodian society.
The associations also expressed deep gratitude towards the Royal Government of Cambodia, particularly acknowledging Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, and the armed forces for their unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and peace of the nation.
