Cambodia Appoints Senior Police Officers for Cross-Border Crime Efforts with Thailand

Phnom penh: The General Commissariat of the National Police under Cambodia’s Ministry of Interior has appointed 12 senior police officers to collaborate with their Thai counterparts in addressing cross-border crimes.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the team, led by a Deputy Commissioner General, will be involved in executing the Action Plan for Cooperation on Preventing and Suppressing Transnational Crimes. This includes tackling cybercrime and human trafficking, as outlined in the agreement signed on October 23, 2025, between the Cambodian National Police and the Royal Thai Police.

The decision aligns with Point 8 of the Action Plan, which addresses the establishment of a “Working Group to Implement the Action Plan.” The appointment has been officially communicated to H.E. Gen. Kittharath Punpetch, Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police. It reflects the discussions held during the first special meeting in Koh Kong province, Cambodia, on September 10, 2025, and the second special meeting of the General Border Committee (GBC) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on October 23, 2025.

The Action Plan aims to enhance cooperation in preventing and suppressing cross-border crimes. This will be achieved through information sharing, mutual support in investigative techniques, evidence exchange, and the application of legal measures against suspects, in accordance with the legal frameworks of both nations.

With the working group now established, both Cambodia and Thailand will inform each other of their respective members, ensuring the immediate implementation of the action plan.
