Phnom Penh: The Ministries of Justice of Cambodia and Japan, along with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), have engaged in discussions focused on enhancing collaboration within the legal and judicial sectors. The meeting featured H.E. Koeut Rith, Cambodian Minister of Justice, and a delegation from the International Cooperation Department (ICD) of the Ministry of Justice of Japan, led by H.E. Tatemoto Ryota, Director General of ICD.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, H.E. Koeut Rith expressed his appreciation to the Japanese delegation for their significant contributions to developing Cambodia's civil legal framework and improving the capacity of Cambodian law enforcement personnel. The dialogue aimed at outlining strategies for continued cooperation in the legal domain.

Previously, on May 21, H.E. Dr. Chin Malin, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Justice, met with the delegation to evaluate the outcomes of their joint initiatives. They focused on identifying future actions necessary to advance their collaborative efforts.

Looking ahead, the cooperation will concentrate on drafting amendments to the civil code, civil procedure code, and civil law, as well as enhancing the capabilities of officials involved in effectively managing out-of-court dispute resolutions.
