Gazipur: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested the key accused in the murder of Lotto showroom manager Pintu Akand (38) in Dupchanchia, Bogra. The arrest took place in the station road area of Tongi East Police Station in Gazipur during a joint operation by RAB-12 and RAB-1 last night. The accused, Moktar Hossain (35), is the son of Ahad Ali from Kankai village in Dupchanchia upazila of Bogra. Lt. BN Wahiduzzaman, company commander of RAB-12 Bogura, confirmed this information at a press conference this afternoon.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the deceased Pintu Akand had worked as the manager of Toufiq Elahi Sujan's Lotto showroom in Khandaker Market, near the CO Office intersection under Dupchanchia police station in Bogura district, for about three years. On the night of December 22, when the shop was closed, a group of 6 to 7 unidentified individuals forcibly entered the showroom, abducted Akand, and took him away in a white microbus. Later, his body was discovered in the Komarbhog area of Chhatiangram union in Adamdighi upazila.
Following the incident, the victim's wife filed a kidnapping and murder case with the Dupchanchia Police Station.
