Dhaka: The month-long 30th Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF)-2026 is set to begin on January 1 at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center in Purbachal. Chief Adviser of the interim government Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus will inaugurate the fair, as announced by Commerce Secretary Mahbubur Rahman during a press conference at the venue.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the fair aims to promote the use of sustainable materials by banning single-use plastics and polythene bags. Instead, jute bags will be offered to visitors at affordable prices, supported by a joint initiative between the Jute Diversification Promotion Center (JDPC) and the Ministry of Textiles and Jute. The fair will feature 324 stalls and pavilions, including 11 international participants, solidifying its status as an international trade fair.
The allocation of stall and pavilion spaces has been conducted online, with an e-ticketing system introduced for visitor convenience. This system allows entry via QR code scans, alongside traditional ticket purchases. To facilitate transportation, dedicated Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) bus services and discounted ride-sharing options from 'Pathao' will be available.
A notable addition this year is the 'Export Enclave,' branded as 'Best of Bangladesh,' which will showcase top products from seven export-oriented sectors, aiming to enhance engagement with international buyers. Additionally, a 'Bangladesh Square' will display photo exhibitions commemorating significant national movements, alongside sector-based seminars to spotlight Bangladeshi products and compliance standards.
Special zones have been arranged for electronics and furniture, catering to foreign investors. Facilities for senior citizens, children, and various entrepreneurs have been thoughtfully integrated. The fair will also host numerous seminars and cultural programs to inspire youth and innovation.
The event will display a wide range of products, including textiles, electronics, furniture, and more. Essential services such as ATM booths, a mother-child center, and a blood collection center will be available, alongside ample seating and recreational areas. Security and cleanliness are prioritized, with extensive law enforcement presence, CCTV coverage, and regular patrols ensuring safety.
Visitors can expect efficient transportation with over 200 BRTC shuttle buses operating from key locations. The fair, organized since 1995 by the Ministry of Commerce and the Export Promotion Bureau, aims to bolster domestic product promotion, production support, and job creation.
Food quality will be monitored by daily mobile court inspections, and dining options will include premier restaurants and a large cafeteria. Medical facilities will be accessible for all visitors, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience throughout the event.
