Korea Shows Interest in Cambodia’s Tourism Potential

Seoul: Mr. Jo Won-Yong, CEO of the Gyeonggi Tourism Organisation in the Republic of Korea, expressed strong interest in Cambodia's tourism potential during a meeting with H.E. Huot Hak, Cambodian Minister of Tourism, on the occasion of the official opening of the 40th Seoul International Travel Fair in Seoul on June 5.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the discussions between the two sides focused on strengthening tourism cooperation between Cambodia and Gyeonggi Province, Korea's largest and most populous region. Minister Huot Hak provided Mr. Jo with insights into Cambodia's current political stability, economic growth, and public security. He emphasized Cambodia's diverse tourism offerings, which include thousands of ancient temples, eco-tourism areas, and sandy beaches that appeal to travellers of all ages.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to explore the possibility of signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to formalize tourism cooperation. The proposed partnership aims to promote people-to-people exchanges and foster a deeper understanding of each nation's culture and traditions. Special emphasis would be placed on tourism destinations with unique natural beauty and cultural heritage.
