Malaysian Athletes Shine at SEA Games Thailand 2025 with Cricket and Hockey Triumphs

Ankara: Malaysian athletes have shown remarkable performances at the SEA Games Thailand 2025, with significant achievements in cricket and hockey, alongside a commendable effort in aquathlon.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Malaysian cricket team has moved closer to securing a second gold medal after two decisive victories in the mens T10 event at the Asian Institute of Technology. Following their triumph in the mens T20 event last Saturday, the team defeated Singapore by seven wickets and then overwhelmed hosts Thailand with a nine-wicket victory. These wins have solidified Malaysias position at the top of the standings, with a crucial match against Indonesia at TerdThai Cricket Ground set for tomorrow.

In aquathlon, the Malaysian mixed team relay secured a bronze medal. The team, consisting of Wen May Ng, Sze Hui Teo, Ee Hann Kann, and Nicholas Seh Kit Long, completed the race in 1 hour 8 minutes 37 seconds at Leam Mae Phim, Klaeng district. Indonesia took the gold with a time of 1:04:14, and the Philippines earned silver at 1:04:58. In the mens team relay, Malaysia finished fifth with a time of 48:59, while Indonesia emerged victorious.

The national mens hockey team continued their dominant streak in the round-robin league, defeating Thailand 6-2 in their final match at the National Sports University in Chonburi. This victory ensured their top position in the league, setting up a semi-final clash with Singapore. In the womens hockey competition, Malaysia advanced to the semi-finals as league champions. Despite a 1-1 draw against Thailand, the team is set to face Singapore in the semi-finals, while Thailand will compete against Indonesia.
