Dhaka: Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan Sardar Ayaz Sadiq today called on Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus at the State Guest House Jamuna here, according to the Chief Adviser's Press Wing.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, earlier in the day, Sadiq met Tarique Rahman, the Acting Chairperson of BNP, at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban. During this meeting, Sadiq formally conveyed Islamabad's condolence message to Rahman, following the death of Begum Khaleda Zia, three-time former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson. This gesture reflected Pakistan's deep respect for Bangladesh's late uncompromising leader.
The Speaker arrived in Dhaka to attend the funeral of Begum Khaleda Zia, representing the government of Pakistan. The namaj-e-janaza took place at Manik Mia Avenue in the afternoon, following the formal conveyance of condolences.
