PM Urges Increased Foreign Investment in Cambodia Amidst Border Tensions

Phnom Penh: Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet this evening called on foreign businesspersons to invest more in Cambodia, reaffirming the country’s openness and commitment to creating a more favourable investment environment. Speaking at the official establishment ceremony of the Cambodia Confederation of Investors Association (CCIA), held at the Koh Pich Convention and Exhibition Centre in Phnom Penh, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet reiterated that Cambodia welcomes all investors without discrimination.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Prime Minister emphasised that the Royal Government remains committed to maintaining peace and enhancing Cambodia’s attractiveness and competitiveness in order to draw more investments. He assured that the Royal Government will continue to do its utmost to improve the investment climate, ensure stability and balance, and safeguard the interests of both domestic and foreign investors.

Despite the ongoing border tensions with Thailand, Samdech Thipadei encouraged investors not to be discouraged, stating that the Royal Government is committed to resolving the issue peacefully. Neak Oknha Ly Kun Thai, President of CCIA, also highlighted Cambodia’s potential, citing the country’s peace, political stability, security, macroeconomic resilience, and a young, dynamic workforce.

Cambodia’s strategic location at the heart of Southeast Asia, broad market access, and ongoing infrastructure development are all under strong support and attention from the Royal Government, as noted by Neak Oknha Ly Kun Thai. According to the Council for the Development of Cambodia, the Kingdom attracted a total of 290 investment projects worth US$4.2 billion in the first five months of 2025 – an increase of 52 percent compared to the same period last year, generating some 203,000 jobs for the locals.
