Phnom penh: Qatar's AI Mansour Holding (AMH) Company is being encouraged to invest in Cambodian agricultural products as part of efforts to increase exports and expand bilateral trade. This initiative aims to deepen cooperation in industries such as energy, tourism, and finance between Cambodia and Qatar.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the encouragement was extended by H.E. Rath Saravuth, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Commerce, during a recent courtesy call from Mr. Fahd Al Dosari. Mr. Al Dosari is the Special Advisor and Head of Public Relations for H.E. Sheikh Mansour bin Jabor bin Al Thani of Qatar. The discussions focused on the business and investment potential in Cambodian agricultural products such as rice, cashew nuts, rubber, and cassava. The goal is to increase exports to the Qatari market, as well as to other countries in the Middle East, Europe, and globally.
During the meeting, H.E. Secretary of State briefed the Qatari delegation on current bilateral trade cooperation between Cambodia and Qatar. He highlighted policy developments concerning agricultural products like cashew nuts and elaborated on trade and investment facilitation measures in Cambodia. These include tax incentives for qualified investment projects, an automated system setup, and simplified procedures for business registration and export.
Furthermore, H.E. Rath Saravuth suggested that the Qatari side consider prioritizing investment in food processing in Cambodia. This would cater to both domestic consumption and export markets, potentially through partnerships or joint ventures with local enterprises.
