Xi Jinping and Putin Exchange New Year Greetings, Highlight Strategic Cooperation

Beijing: Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin exchanged New Year greetings, reinforcing the strategic partnership between their nations.

According to Thai News Agency, China's state-run CCTV reported that President Xi extended his best wishes and congratulations to President Putin and the Russian people on behalf of the Chinese government and citizens. He emphasized the importance of 2025 as a milestone in the comprehensive strategic cooperation between China and Russia, recalling the meetings held in Beijing and Moscow this year where they discussed important mutual interests.

President Xi also noted that 2026 will mark the 30th anniversary of the strategic alliance between the two countries and the 25th anniversary of the Treaty of Good Neighbors, Friendship, and Cooperation. He announced that 2026-2027 will be designated as the "Year of China-Russia Education," signaling a focus on educational collaboration.

Xi expressed his commitment to maintain close dialogue with President Putin to ensure continuous progress in their bilateral relations during the new era.

In response, President Putin conveyed his warm New Year greetings to President Xi, wishing the Chinese people happiness and good health. He remarked on the sustained momentum and success of the comprehensive strategic cooperation between Russia and China over the past year. Putin expressed his eagerness to maintain close communication with Xi on bilateral relations and significant international issues.
