BP2MI urges victims of human trafficking to become campaigners

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Head of the Indonesian Migrant Workers' Protection Agency (BP2MI) Benny Rhamdani has urged victims of illegal placement or human trafficking to become campaigners to disseminate information about the dangers of becoming illegal Indonesian migrant workers."I always invite those who have become victims of illegal placement to become the government's campaigners to participate in disseminating the danger of unofficial placement," he noted after visiting a victim's family in Cianjur, West Java, on Tuesday evening. The state has prepared various facilities for people seeking to work abroad, he remarked. "They are given education and training so that they can be competent and skilled in their fields and have the language capacity," he noted. ccording to Rhamdani, Indonesian migrant workers should be competent in their fields, as they are the country's face and image. "If people overseas see how Indonesian workers are truly competent in their fields, this will lead to them viewing Indonesia in a positive light," he explained. BP2MI will continue to improve the management of Indonesian migrant worker placement and protection, he stated. During a task force meeting at the national level led by Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Mahfud MD, he outlined several strategic steps to fight against illegal placement syndicates. This involves information dissemination, progressive prevention conducted between central institutions and ministries, as well as revolutionary law enforcement, he remarked. He stressed that the country has relentlessly provided complete protection to Indonesian migrant workers. This is a strict order from President Joko Widodo to protect the nation's citizens. "The country never loses against illegal placement syndicates, and the people should also be educated on the risks of unofficial placement," he remarked. He stressed that human trafficking is a humanitarian crime that cannot be tolerated. In fact, he declared war against syndicates.
